Art Dept. Scholarships
Applications have closed for the 2024-2025 school year.
Art Department scholarships are reserved for students who are pursuing the BA in Art degree. Scholarship money is available and consideration for designation is contingent upon the submission of a current portfolio. Students must submit a portfolio of digital images or a link to their website. Portfolios should contain 10 to 20 works and must include at least three drawings from direct observation (as opposed to drawings from photographs) of still-life, figure studies or landscapes. A portfolio’s strength is determined by:
Originality and Strength of Expression
- the ability to effectively present ideas and images in a unique and/or personal way.
Visual Intelligence
- the ability to think spatially and create images which are structurally logical.
Maturity
- determined by the extent to which a student has demonstrated a disciplined exploration of a medium or concept.
Craftsmanship
- the ability to consistently control a medium and produce predictable results that are of archival quality.
All portfolios or websites must be submitted by April 1, 2024.
Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than April 15, 2024.
